As our children grow, they go through growth spurts during
which you wonder if they are going to grow out of everything, including their
bed! In fact, my own son grew 4 inches
in just a period of six months at the age of 13.
Many younger children are given a small single mattress or a
single mattress to sleep on. These sizes
can be quite confining to a rapidly growing adolescent. There may come a point that your teenager
outgrows a small single or single mattress.
The next size would be 4ft beds,
which is considered to be a small double mattress. This is a size that is large enough for a
growing teenager or a single adult. It
generally is not enough space for a couple, but if you are purchasing a new
mattress for your teenager, I’m sure you do not want them to have space to
share their bed.
